COUNTY-WIDE SYNDROMIC SURVEILLANCE

3-Month Data Trends

The goal of TASSS is to detect population-level increases in prodromal symptoms.
TASSS is not designed to detect advanced illness. The objective of our system is to
alert medical professionals to the possibility of a significant outbreak before large
numbers of patients present with advanced disease.

The Alarm Limit is only a statistical value that tracks syndromic data elevations which register
beyond a baseline and triggers a TASSS Force investigation. This data is tracked for seasonal
trends and used to explain increases in disease and illnesses reported to the health department.

Depending on the event, sustained increases of two days or
more may prompt an official medical notice/alert being sent to all area medical providers.
